Smørrebrød forever!

While in Copenhagen, we went to Aamann’s Deli & Takeaway in Østerbro. Their contemporary take on the Danish classic of smørrebrød (a kind of open-faced sandwich) was amazing. So amazing, in fact, that we decided to pick up a cookbook to give us some ideas for different ways to do smørrebrød. What we found was Trine Hahnemann’s Open Sandwiches, and it has inspired many delicious dinner adventures. Whether it’s a combination of cottage cheese, tomatoes, and avocado or peaches, balsamic reduction, and chevre (all so good), this is a great cookbook. I especially love it for those hot summer nights when the idea of food served cold is extra appealing.
